Good morning Insiders, and today the Adebayor saga is coming to a conclusion as Setanta Sports news are reporting the AC Milan’s Galliani as revealing a letter reportedly from Arsenal football Club, inviting the Italian club to renew their interest in the unsettled Togolese striker.

So who will be the replacement striker?

I see the choices as between Roque Santa Cruz and Klaas Huntelaar. Huntelaar is unsettled at Ajax and is friends with Robin Van Persie. He is a typical goal scoring predator of the Ruud van Nistelroy mould. At £18 million he is more expensive than Santa Cruz. If AC Milan settle for £25million for Adebayor, then paying £12 million for Santa Cruz seems the typical Wenger strategy of making money to pay for transfers.

Of the two players, Santa Cruz has the style of play that is already Arsenal like. He has excellent heading ability and would thrive on the number of chances likely to come his way from our attacking midfield options. The likely departure of Hleb for Barcelona would raise enough cash for Huntelaar if Wenger wants to revive his old “fox in the box” style of striker.

Head to Head

ESPN have the stats of Huntelaar for 2007/8 as 34 goals in 39 appearances in the Dutch Eredivisie. Huntelaar scored 6 UEFA Cup goals in 6 appearances and no Champions league goals in 2 appearances.

Huntelaar scores goals for fun and very prolific in front of goal. If it merely the number of goals per chances available and the number of appearances, then Huntelaar’s stats are superior to Santa Cruz.
